It's not as adept in sifting through pet hair or other small dirt as our top choices, but it's great for shoppers on a budget. It also has the best apps features, such as zones of no-go and virtual cleaning.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a solid, well-built robot that does an excellent job at vacuuming floors. It has a large dirt compartment on the outside that it automatically emptys when it reaches docking stations. It then resumes cleaning after it is recharged. It's effective in removing medium and small debris from floors that are bare but it isn't as effective in removing pet hair and incurs high regular costs.

Similar to the i3 EVO, this robot utilizes iRobot's iAdapat 3.0 navigation software to understand your home's features and keep track of particular rooms for future cleaning. It comes with a feature that automatically adjusts the suction power and head height in accordance with the kind of floor it's working on.

During our testing it did a great job on both hard floors and low-pile carpeting, picking most of the smaller and harder debris we dropped on each surface while taking on the larger crumbs of cereal that we dropped on the carpet. It's not as adept in picking up pet hair than the other models we tested. It can also become stuck on toys or cords in the event that you don't take them off them before sending the robot to clean.

In our tests, it was clean for around 90 minutes before the battery ran out and returned to base. This is much better than the i7+ or s9+ that was only able to run for 60 minutes in our tests. The i3+ EVO also has a great track record of recollecting where it left off on the same run this isn't the case with other robots we've examined.

The i3+ EVO dust bin is 1.5 quarts in size which is smaller than the majority of other robots we evaluated. It has a release button on one side of the bin that you press to empty it. You can also empty the bin via the docking station's Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system, which sucks up the contents of the bin's internal dustbin, and then empties it into the station's outside dirt bag.

2. Eureka Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro is a powerful mopping machine with a suction rate of 5,500pa. It can be set up in just a few minutes. The integrated 770ml tank of water and dustbin reduce the frequency of emptying and its large capacity allows longer mopping sessions. Its 240-minute runtime also makes it an excellent choice for larger homes. Its remarkable clever navigation technology, courtesy of PreciSense LiDAR mapping provides a wide coverage of the room, while also allowing the robot to move around obstacles.

The Q5 Pro is unlike some other robot vacuums that require Wi-Fi to operate. Its battery isn't long lasting, so you'll have to recharge frequently if you plan to use the robot for a longer period of time. It is fairly easy to maintain and comes with an empty dirt bag which can be easily replaced and a straightforward maintenance schedule. It is also cheaper than its more expensive competitors.

The Q5 Pro can be a bit finicky when comes to pet hair and heavier debris, but it is a good choice overall. In our tests, the Q5 Pro was able remove more debris from bare carpet and floors with low pile than the Dirt Devil Endura Max. However, it had a difficult time getting into the tight corners and high-pile recessed areas. It's also more maneuverable and the filtering system does a fantastic job at trapping allergens. The straight suction floorhead of the vacuum is too low for medium or bulky debris. There are also minor issues, like its lack of advanced features and limited functionality of its remote control. Eureka Q5 Pro, despite its limitations, is a good choice for those seeking a basic robot vacuum that can mop.

3. SwitchBot K10 Plus

If you're looking for a smart vacuum cleaner with the ability to also mop, the SwitchBot K10 Plus is an excellent choice. Its small size lets it reach places that larger robots aren't able to, such as corners and under furniture. It also has an advanced LiDAR sensor that is able to detect obstacles and avoid collisions.

During our tests the K10 Plus vacuumed up pet hair dust, crumbs and other particles quickly and efficiently from our carpeting. It was also able to reach into tight places like under our bed or around chair legs. It is possible to mop with a separate cloth or use a wet cloth. The K10 Plus comes with a small bag of wet wipes to get moving.

The app for the K10 Plus is intuitive and straightforward to use. It provides a variety of customization options such as setting a no disruption time, adjusting the layout of the map and setting a timer for when you'd like it to clean. The app tracks the lifespan of your accessories like the side brush, sensor, and bin filter. This can be useful in determining when it's time to replace them.

The battery life of the K10 Plus is also pretty impressive. After a full charge we could get three hours of cleaning. It also recharges quickly. It is able to discharge dirt into a large bin in the base station when it's finished. This can be a bit deafening when it happens, but at least it's not as loud as the other self emptying robot bagless self-recharging vacuums we've tested.

4. iRobot S9+

iRobot Roomba S9+ is part of the high-end S Series lineup above models like the iRobot Roomba j7 and iRobot Roomba i3. It performs very well on different floor surfaces and maneuvers effectively around furniture. The main brushroll is equipped with counter-rotating rubber scrapers that effectively remove most particles including pet hair from bare floors and carpets. The suction power it has in real-world is adequate for a robot but not as powerful as premium alternatives such the Roborock S8.

The Roomba S9+'s design is distinctly elegant, with a D-shaped body that is more modern than its circular competitors. This shape helps it to fit into corners and along edges easier. While it can still leave some dust behind in these areas in the event that the corner brush isn't turning fast enough the motor's power more than makes up for this.

In iRobot's tests the S9+ was able to remove pet hair and cat litter easily. It also did exceptionally well on hard floors, where it utilized its powerful motor to blast through all kinds of debris, and clean all edges and corners with ease. Its vSLAM-based advanced technology and Imprint Smart Mapping technology also made it one of the best navigators we've ever tested, with an unshakeable grasp of its floorspace that can even locate its way through sofas or beds with a valance draped over them.

The iRobot App makes it simple to set up and operate. You can choose which functions to start during the initial setup process, or wait until you've got a better feel for how it works. Its internal bin needs to be manually emptied occasionally when it gets full, though the process takes less than 15 seconds, and it's fairly quiet.

5. Roborock S8

The latest version of the Roborock S Series is a powerful mop and robot vacuum with a comprehensive feature set. It uses the LIDAR and camera system to avoid obstacles and navigate as did its predecessors. The mapping system creates an interactive 3D map of your home, which you can view in the app. It allows you to set no-go zones or designate certain rooms to be cleaned. The app lets you manage the robot's schedule and also select different mopping and vacuuming modes for each room.

The S8 has upgraded HyperForce suction, which is able to pick up fine particles and hair easily. The app allows you to modify the suction power. The device can automatically switch between energy efficient 'Quiet 'Balanced', and 'Turbo" modes depending on the surface it is cleaning. It also has a Carpet Suction Boost mode that enhances suction when the robot is on rugs.

The S8 can be controlled by a single button that also serves as a 'Cleaning' button for the entire robot as well as an 'Spot' Clean button that directs it to a specific location. Press the 'Dock/Home button' for the robot to go to its home station. The app has a surprisingly rich features and is simple to use. It even lets you choose off-peak times for charging to lower the cost of using peak-time power.

The only drawback to the S8 is that its battery isn't as long as it should allow for, with only 130 minutes of use when I left it on its normal settings with both vacuuming and mopping enabled. That's a remarkable amount of time, and it was enough to thoroughly clean my apartment.
